What is the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" about?

Dear Kellen:
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia, we don't know. And, as far as we can tell, nobody else seems to know either. But that hasn't stopped folks from speculating on the deeper meaning of Queen's chart-topping hit.
A look at the lyrics provides a few clues. As the New York Times notes, many of the words are "fatalistic." Lines like "I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all," "nothing really matters," and "too late, my time has come," imply the song's author and composer, Freddie Mercury, was dealing with inner demons.
Despite the band's strict policy of not revealing the song's meaning, British DJ and entertainer Kenny Everett claimed to have heard an explanation from Mr. Mercury himself. According to this article from Blender Magazine, Everett claims Mercury told him the song's lyrics were just "random, rhyming nonsense."
Seeing as Mr. Mercury passed away in 1991 and the surviving band members aren't talking, it seems we'll never know for sure. If we had to hazard a guess, though, we'd say the song is a type of fantasy written by a complex person and, like the best kinds of art, not intended to make perfect sense.

Thomas Jefferson School of Law is a private, independent law school. The mission of the law school is to provide an outstanding legal education for a nationally based student body in a collegial and supportive environment with attention to newly emerging areas of law, particularly those related to technological development, globalization, and the quest for social justice. In furtherance of that goal, the law school offers both a full-time and a part-time program. Students may begin their studies in August or January.
The law school campus consists of two attractive and modern buildings. Perched on a hillside overlooking the San Diego harbor, the law library building features the traditional Spanish architecture characteristic of the San Diego area. It houses the library and faculty offices. The Courtyard Building, located directly across the street, houses classrooms, the moot courtroom, the deli, the student center, the bookstore, and administrative offices.
The campus is situated in the historic Old Town section of San Diego. Originally the site of the first European settlement in California, Old Town is now a unique tourist attraction and business center. The many shops and restaurants in Old Town as well as the old Town trolley station are within easy walking distance of the campus.
Students will find the campus very convenient to the rest of San Diego. The campus is near the intersection of two major freeways and affords easy access to most areas of the county. Downtown San Diego is only minutes away by car.

What does ONE aim to do/change?

Who supports ONE?

ONE is a broad movement of Americans from every state and walk of life–more than 2 million people have lent their voices to ONE by visiting ONE.ORG and signing the ONE Declaration. More than three million Americans are also wearing white bands as a show of support for ending extreme poverty and global AIDS. ONE is Americans spreading the word in churches, coffee shops, on television, college campuses and the Internet.
Why ONE percent?

Americans have always been a generous people – just look at the outpouring of support for the victims of the tsunami. Yet, most Americans would be surprised to learn that less than ONE percent of the federal budget is currently marked for fighting AIDS and poverty around the world. Surveys show people think it is over 15%.

ONE percent of the U.S. budget is approximately $25 billion, and redirecting that much more money will take time. Directed to honest governments, private charities and faith-based organizations, this support would provide the tools and resources they need to really make a difference.

By directing an additional ONE percent of the U.S. budget toward providing the most basic needs – and fighting the corruption that wastes precious resources –we can help transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the poorest countries. If the U.S. were to devote an additional ONE percent – one cent more for every dollar spent by the federal government–to helping the world's poorest people help themselves, America would demonstrate a commitment to the Millennium Goals, an internationally agreed upon effort to halve global poverty by 2015.

One percent is not merely a number on a balance sheet. One percent is the girl who gets to go to school, thanks to you. One percent is the AIDS patient who gets her medicine. One percent is the African entrepreneur who can start a small family business. One percent is not redecorating presidential palaces or money flowing down a hole. This one percent is digging waterholes to provide clean water. One percent is a new partnership with Africa and the world's poorest countries, where increased assistance flows toward improved governance and initiatives with proven track records.

With an additional ONE percent of our budget we can help prevent 10 million children from becoming AIDS orphans; We can help get 104 million children into grade school; We can help provide water to almost 900 million people around the globe; We can save almost 6.5 million children under 5 from dying of diseases that could be prevented with low-cost measures like vaccination or a well for clean water.

America gives less than one percent now. Were asking for an extra one percent to change the world, to transform millions of lives–but not just that – to also transform the way the world sees us. One percent is national security, enlightened economic self interest, and a better safer world for us all.

UN mulls sanctions after North Korea missile launch

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The U.N. Security Council on Wednesday considered imposing sanctions on North Korea's weapons program after the reclusive state test-fired a series of missiles including a long-range weapon.

Japan, backed by the United States and Britain prepared a resolution demanding that nations withhold all funds, goods and technology that could be used for North Korea's missile program.

But Russia said it opposed sanctions and would prefer a statement instead of a resolution as the outcome of the meeting.


Defying international warnings, North Korea launched at least six missiles in the early morning and a seventh some 12 hours later, officials in Japan and South Korea said.

North Korea fired 10 missiles, Russia said, but the report from a senior general could not be immediately confirmed.

The long-range Taepodong-2 missile apparently failed 40 seconds into its flight, U.S. officials said. Japanese and South Korean officials said the missiles fell into the sea separating the Korean peninsula from Japan.

The United States warned the communist state against any more provocative acts, and said Washington would take necessary measures to protect itself and its allies.

"The United States strongly condemns these missile launches and North Korea's unwillingness to heed calls for restraint from the international community," White House spokesman Tony Snow said in a statement.more

Corals

Coral reefs are the most biologically diverse ecosystems of the ocean and are rivaled only by the tropical rainforests on land. As snorkelers and divers know, thousands of beautiful fish, mollusks and urchins are among the amazing marine life that populates coral reefs. In fact, the corals themselves are also marine animals. Almost a thousand coral species currently exist in fantastic shapes ranging from mushrooms to moose antlers, cabbages, tabletops, wire strands, fluted pillars, and wrinkled brains.
With the majority of humankind living in coastal regions, many people depend on living coral reefs for food and protection from storm surges and erosion, as well as the additional benefits of medical research, tourism and aesthetic beauty. Coral reefs contribute about 25 percent of the total fish catch in developing countries, providing food for one billion people in Asia alone. The calmer area behind a reef can shelter sea grass beds and mangrove forests that service as important nurseries for the young of even more fish and shellfish.

Unfortunately, human activities, including those associated with global warming are threatening these rainforests of the ocean. Increasing sea temperatures stress corals and cause damage, including bleaching. WWF is working to develop and test conservation strategies to better protect coral reefs from bleaching while also working to stop global warming, the root cause of the almost epidemic coral bleaching currently underway.

Lil' Kim Released from Slammer

Gangsta rap superstar Lil' Kim was released on Monday from a Pennsylvania jail after serving 10 months of a 12-month sentence for a perjury conviction.

Lil' Kim, the well-known rapper whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was convicted of perjury in 2005 for her part in a coverup of her two friends' involvement in a shooting. Lil' Kim's hits include Lady Marmalade and Lighters Up.

While she completed her jail time, she will spend a month under house arrest followed by supervised release for three years, according to prison officials.

"I am thrilled to be coming home," the 30-year-old said in a released statement. "I thank my fans for all their letters."

Upon exiting from the facility, the musician was greeted by fans outside of the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center in Pennsylvania.

Now here is a completely new gadget that has the potential to be a success, at least the concept is good and if the production and materials used have the same quality, it will be a hit for sure.

It’s a camera that can be attached to a Frisbee, called Cachu and designed by Adam Sutcliffe, the toy is suppose to record 20 minutes of video while being connected to the the flying frisbee. The frisbee also has a wind vein that keeps the camera straight, even as the Frisbee spins.

No idea on the price, but the author says it will be approximately £45 - about $80.

N. Korea fires series of missiles

TOKYO - A defiant North Korea test-fired a long-range missile Wednesday that may be capable of reaching America, but it failed seconds after launch, U.S. officials said. The North also tested four of shorter range in an exercise the White House termed "a provocation" but not an immediate threat.
The audacious military tests by isolated communist nation came despite stern warnings from the United States and Japan — and carried out as the U.S. celebrated the Fourth of July and launched the space shuttle.

None of the missiles made it as far as Japan. The Japanese government said all landed in the Sea of Japan between Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

NEW YORK - A 160-pound wonder from Japan set a new record by devouring a sickening 53 3/4 frankfurters in 12 minutes to win the annual Independence Day hot dog eating competition on Coney Island.

The feat earned Takeru Kobayashi, 27, his sixth straight title in the event, held at the original Nathan's Famous hot dog stand on Brooklyn's seashore.

He broke his own record of 53 1/2 hot dogs, set at the same competition two years ago.

Thousands of raucous spectators jammed the streets in front of the hot dog stand, a block from the famed Coney Island boardwalk, to watch the competition and Kobayashi — a top-ranked eater who once ate 17.7 pounds of pan-seared cow brains to win $25,000.

His strongest competition was Joey Chestnut, a 220-pound civil engineering student from San Jose, Calif., who set an American record by eating 50 hot dogs during a qualifying tournament in Las Vegas.

Shuttle Launching Set for Today Despite Broken Foam

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., July 3 — NASA will try to launch the space shuttle Discovery on Tuesday despite having learned on Monday that a small piece of foam had fallen off the external tank, officials said.
We're 'go' to continue with the launch countdown," said William H. Gerstenmaier, the associate administrator for space operations." Liftoff was set for 2:37 p.m.

The small piece of foam insulation, which fell off a bracket that holds a fuel line in place, weighs less than one-tenth of an ounce, about as much as a penny, and would not have caused serious damage to the shuttle if it had fallen off during ascent, said John Shannon, deputy manager of the shuttle program.
